Magic Words: Book Editor for Fantasy Authors | The Editorial Process | The Challenge Accepted

SEE HOW A PROFESSIONAL EDIT CAN TURN YOUR WORDS INTO THE QUEEN’S GOLD

No manuscript draft is perfectly clean. The sad truth is goblins and trolls lurk in your prose, just waiting for eagle-eyed readers to find and comment on them. (I know you’ve seen those reviews.)

I want to help make your book as sparkly and troll-free as anything published by a Big 5 house.
Jump into a mini-quest with me by getting the royal treatment on a sample of your story. See firsthand how I transform it into polished, publish-ready prose.
AND JUST WHO AM I?

HI! I’M SHAWNA

Editor and head goblin slayer at Magic Words, an editing service for indie authors writing fantasy, horror, and sci-fi just like you.

I’ve been obsessed with words and stories since I was a wee lass leading reading circle in kindergarten, and now I help magic writers put their best stories into the hands of readers who will love them forever.
After 40+ years as a writer, 30+ years studying writing craft, and 25+ years walking writers over the potholes in their prose, after polishing 100+ manuscripts for NYT and USA Today bestselling authors and many satisfied indie author clients, I’ve perfected how to turn a good draft into a great book and conjured up what makes your words magic.
Ready for a little conjuring on your book?

TERMS: A trial edit consists of a line and copyedit on a section of your manuscript to demonstrate how my editing style might fit your needs. The section will be my choice, no greater than 1,000 words, and only for manuscripts that total 40,000 words or more. A free edit is only offered if your book is ready for a line or copyedit. Your free edit requires the submission of your full manuscript so I can choose the section and select the right editing level to apply. Free edits are not available for manuscript assessments or query edits. You’re under no obligation to book an editing package after a trial edit. I’m under no obligation to provide you a trial edit if you request one.
